Building Self-Awareness

Would you like to see some changes in your life? You can begin making these changes by building self-awareness. Self-awareness is a self-conscious state where you’re focused on yourself and your well being.

It’s often said, “We cannot change what we will not see.” Self-awareness is the process of acknowledging not only our strengths, but our weaknesses as well. Becoming self-aware entails listening to your body and feelings and taking action based on what you hear.

If you’re in tune with your body, you’ll know when to say no to that extra piece of cake or say no to staying up late. You’ll become more in tune with your body the more often you respect it. Self-awareness is a process. The more we do it, the better we become at it.

How do you become self-aware?

These tips will help you in your journey to self-awareness:

Reflect on who you are and who you’d like to become. While it’s important to notice your faults and weaknesses, it’s equally important to acknowledge your strengths.

The better you understand yourself, the better you’re able to accept yourself as you are or change the things you’d like to be different. Self-awareness requires you to be honest with yourself and have the courage to change the things you can.

· A full recognition of yourself gives you the opportunity to become the self-fulfilled person you’re destined to be.


Looking deep within your soul, you’ll find the many character traits that make you unique. Begin by acknowledging the positive things. This will strengthen and encourage you to face the less favorable character traits without abandoning your new venture.

On the other hand, when evaluating your strengths, don’t let your ego get the best of you. If you magnify either your strengths or your weaknesses, you can’t possibly get a realistic picture of yourself.

· Until you examine the truth of who you are, you cannot move into the person you can become.

Pay attention to your likes and dislikes. Far too often, people make life-changing choices without acknowledging deeply rooted personal preferences.

· Before you embark on goals for your future, have a full awareness of the things you especially enjoy and those you prefer not to have in your life.

Face your inner self. During your self-awareness process, think about your motivations, dreams, fears and stressors. Think about why you feel the way you do, then begin to work toward overcoming these inner battles.

Ask your loved ones’ opinions. Talk to people who know you best and really listen to what they see as your dominant character traits and motivations. Ask them to be completely honest with you and be prepared to hear their opinions.

· You may not be your own best judge of character. Accept the way your loved ones see you as part of this process. Consider their opinions along with your own analysis in order to see the full picture of who you are.

Self-awareness is a necessary part of self-esteem and change. If you want to grow as an individual, begin with a complete and honest picture of who you are now. This total awareness will start your journey to becoming the best you can be.

Top 7 Ways to Boost Your Self-Esteem

Everyone needs to feel a sense of self-worth and healthy self-esteem in order to live a successful, contented life. While some people look to others and their material success to gauge their own self-worth, the most important assessment is how you feel about yourself.

There are many things you can do to boost your own self-esteem. By taking the steps to build your own self-worth and well-being, you’re practicing the best form of preventative medicine possible.

Here are the top seven ways to boost your self-esteem:

1. Do things you love. The more time you spend doing things you love to do, the better it makes you feel. Doing the things you enjoy causes your brain to produce higher levels of endorphins, which are chemical in the brain that increase your sense of joy and well-being.

Engaging in activities we love also helps us recall other times we’ve done them, and those memories increase our self-esteem. Our favorite activities are often things we do well, which is a factor in increasing our self-esteem.

2. Strengthen your strengths. When you exercise your strengths, they become stronger and your self-esteem rises as well. We all like to feel proud of the things we excel at and those things cause us to feel better about ourselves.

Spend time working on, building, and renewing your strengths, and your inner approval rating will soar.

3. Surround yourself with positive people. Positive energy is like an electrical charge as it spreads from one person to the next. When you spend time in the company of positive people, your own attitude will lift to match theirs, and you’ll be charged from their energy.

4. Measure your worth based on yourself, not on others. Everyone sees the world based on his or her own biases and circumstances. When someone pours negative thoughts on another person, it’s a greater reflection on their own deficiencies than the person they’re attacking.

Basing your self-esteem on another person’s opinions is never a good idea. Instead, take your value from what you know to be the truth about yourself from the inside out, not the other way around.

5. Believe in yourself. Trust in your ability to achieve whatever you set your mind to accomplish. When you believe that you’re capable of attaining your goals, you unleash the ability to do so from deep within you, so trust in the process.

6. Set your thoughts on the things you want to attract. Albert Einstein determined all things are made of energy and energy attracts more of the same energy. Focusing your thoughts on the things you desire in your life keeps the energy of those things moving toward you.

7. Speak affirming thoughts to yourself. We’ve all heard the phrase “act as if.” Affirmations work on that principle. Instead of saying, “I want to be happy,” say, “I am a happy person.” Say it out loud everyday.

You’ll begin to reprogram your subconscious to believe it as the truth, and soon you’ll be feeling that truth every day.

These simple steps to boost your self-esteem are easy to put into practice in your day-to-day life. Start today and build your self-worth and self-esteem into the foundation of your character. Your life will never be the same.

Meditation

Meditation has been practiced for thousands of years to move beyond the mind’s busy activity. These days, many people turn to meditation for relaxation and stress reduction.

Meditation is a powerful tool that produces a deep state of relaxation and a tranquil mind. Through meditation you can reach a sense of calm, peace and emotional stability. And these effects don’t end when your meditation session ends. Meditation can have lasting effects on your emotional and physical well-being.

The demands of modern life make you attend several things at once with the result that nothing is done with full awareness. The pace of life has accelerated, your attention is fragmented and your mind is over stimulated. Through regular meditation practice you can recover a focused approach and aspire to a calmer, more intuitive, and present state. During an experience of meditation you are calm, happy, loving, and focused. Having achieved this wonderful state, you can learn to transfer these same attitudes to all your interactions.

Meditation is one of the most powerful tools for mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well being. Research shows some of the benefits of meditation as:

  • Deep relaxation
  • More energy
  • Decreased anxiety
  • Heightened immunity
  • Pain control
  • Stress reduction
  • Self expansion and growth
  • Mental clarity
  • Good sleep

Meditation connects you to your core being, to the ever-present source of inner peace and wisdom from which you can draw strength, courage, clarity and compassion. It becomes easier to respond to situations from a calm and grounded place, rather than acting out old dysfunctional patterns.

You’re also better able to navigate your lives in alignment with your own needs and goals. By giving yourself the space to simply be yourself, many of the distractions from other people’s agendas melt away.

As you develop your own meditation program, you’ll be able to track the benefits for yourself, from changes in your mood to improvements in your energy. Soon you will find yourself reacting from a place of centered calm rather than from your head.

Anyone can practice meditation. But don’t let the thought of meditating the “right” way add to your stress. It’s common for the mind to wander during meditation, no matter how long you’ve been practicing meditation, and that’s OK. If your attention wanders, slowly return to the object, sensation or movement you’re focusing on. You can use your breath to bring yourself back to your focus.

Experiment and you’ll likely find out what types of meditation work best for you. Adapt meditation to your needs at the moment. Remember, there’s no right way or wrong way to meditate. What matters is that meditation helps you with stress reduction and feeling better overall.

Here are three simple strategies that can help you get the most from your meditation:

  1. Choose the best time and place. Because of our different schedules and harried lives, not everyone will find the same time best for them. The time of day is not really so important as long as you pick a time that works well for you.
    • Choose a time to meditate when you won’t have the phone ringing or kids knocking on your door. To quite your mind you need quiet in the home.
    • It’s best to avoid times right before or after eating.
    • Some people do well with 10 minutes of meditation time while others need at least a half hour.
    • It’s also important that you find a great place for your meditation. You’ll need an environment that’s both relaxing and quiet, so that nothing takes your attention away from meditating.
    • Turn off the television and your phone, so you’re not distracted or interrupted.
    • Sometimes going outdoors can provide an inspirational place for meditation.
    • Setting a calm mood will help you meditate. Closing the curtains, turning on soft light, or lighting your favorite scented candle might help you relax.
  2. Clear your mind. Even when we’re still, our minds continue to think. It’s easy to allow the problems of the day to come into your mind while you’re trying to meditate. It’s important that you focus your attention on meditating and work to clear your mind.
    • Breathe deeply and concentrate on relaxing your body. Picture each part of your body going limp as you relax. With each breath, inhale peace and exhale your worries.
    • Envision a place that brings you happiness. This place can be real or imagined as long as you’re relaxed and not thinking about your problems.
  3. Find your inner peace. Find your place of inner peace when you meditate. It’s the place inside of you that’s quiet and far away from the cares of the world.
    • When you’re able to totally clear your mind, you can usually bring yourself to a place where you truly feel peace and happiness.
    • Allow yourself to stay in this place for a while, calming and relaxing your body and mind.

It’s not hard to meditate. While it’s more difficult when you first get started, over time it becomes easier and easier to reach your goal of finding peace and relaxation. Remember these strategies, and you’ll find meditation to be a very pleasurable experience.

Meditation has been an important part of my life for many years. Through meditation I have been able to go within for answers to problems through difficult phases. It not only helped me find solutions but made me become a calmer, more peaceful and a wiser person.

I have tended for over 15 years a beautiful rose garden that has taught me, awakened me, and healed me. I have accessed ancient healing wisdom from the vibration of roses and would love to share it with you.

How can you thank someone for intangibles…..focus, faith, strength, purpose?? I can only say thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

I was at the crossroads in my business…stay or go. I knew that I was a good Realtor, but the last year was brutal for business. I came to your “Goal Setting” group in January, and I was off and running. You showed me not to just think “I can do it”, but how to do it, and how to make my goals my reality.

I walked into Tildets office completely consumed by fear and heartache. There were a few periods that I had gone through in my life that left me feeling alone and like I was in a constant battle with the world. The most detrimental blow to my spirit came when I lost my first child, a son, when I was 6 months pregnant. It was then that I truly lost hold of my faith.

Faith and spirituality were one of the best parts of my life up to this point, feeding me, intriguing me, loving me and teaching me through out my life….and most importantly keeping me hopeful and excited about my future. Losing this, I felt I was walking through the world disconnected from everything and myself. I continued to work hard on healing myself and recapture the joy I had before, but I never really felt the same.
My husband and I decided to try for another baby and we gave birth to a healthy happy amazing little girl a few years ago. I thought that this would be the end of my sad state and for a while it truly was. I was on cloud nine with our precious little gift and my wonderful husband. Slowly things began to shift inside of me. I found myself slowly slipping into a sea of fear. Once I was in it, I felt it was impossible to get out. Fear around keeping my family protected took over almost every part of me. Every professional I spoke to about why I felt this way told me it was a “normal” fear to have after losing a child and that it just meant I loved my family. I knew this, but still found it impossible to stop doing although I hated the way it made me feel.

I began trying to calculate every move we made so that it would not lead us to a bad place and we could be happy. This is an impossible and exhausting thing to do. I just wanted to feel good and let it all go because I certainly never wanted to pass such a negative trait to my daughter and wanted to stop letting this fear get in the way of my happiness and success as a person, a parent and wife.

When I came to see Tildet I explained it all to her…although I almost felt like I didn’t need to explain because she had the ability to see straight through to the heart of the matter. We had our session and at the end I found it really difficult to express what I felt. I almost wondered if it didn’t “work” on me! I was so wrong.
My husband and daughter came to pick me up and I immediately felt different. As the day progressed I realized how “present” I was and how my mind was literally nowhere else except in that moment. It has now been a little over a week and literally every day I wake up I feel better and better and better. I am truly happy, present, grateful and free of the fear. I allow myself to feel joy and I am so excited about our future. I am so incredibly grateful that Tildet came into my life and I think it was God’s way of allowing me to heal and asking me to let it go so that I can get back out there, fully be there with my family and get back to my work and help heal others. Discovering Reiki

Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing art used to promote good health and well being.

Ki, which translates to “life force energy”, channels through the body of those who are practicing the healing. By laying hands on the body or simply touching the aura, the energy helps to balance the patient’s chakras (energy centers), balancing the person’s physical, emotional, mental and spiritual state of being. In addition, Reiki has been known to reduce stress, enable the release of toxins and remove energy blocks.

Through the activation of the body’s natural ability to heal, people have been known to benefit on a variety of levels ranging from minor stress to major disease.

Reiki is not affiliated with any religious groups, though many experience a strengthening in their spirituality through regular practice. It is not to be used in replacement of medical care, though it may enhance treatment and help in creating a more speedy recovery.

Reiki I Class

Some of the content of our Reiki I class is learning how Reiki works, what it can be used for, the background and history of Reiki, learning the hands-on healing positions for self-treatment and treatment of others, receiving Reiki I attunements to establish yourself as a channel for healing, practicing Reiki on yourself and others, learning about energy and our energy centers (chakras).


Reiki II Class

–> (prerequisite Reiki I)
In addition to continuing practicing Reiki on yourselves and others we will be learning about the Reiki II symbols and their meanings, how to use them for present, distant, past and future healing. We will learn how to do complete treatments using all the symbols and go deeper in meditation with use of the Reiki symbols. By taking this class, you will participate in 9 hours of class time.


Advanced Reiki Training

I invite you to come to expand your knowledge, experience and healing abilities in this
transformational Advanced Reiki Training. Whether you are a Reiki practitioner and wish to have more tools for your clients, or if you wish to deepen your connection with the inner healer within you for your own growth and expansion, this class is for you.
